The Repressed

The Martyrs' Chapel was consecrated on July 3rd, 2004 as a place of prayer and honor for those who suffered and died in Stalin’s labor camps in the Kolyma Region and Siberia.

The priests that serve the parish of the Nativity of Christ have received a special call to “go and pray in the former camps.” This call is best realized here as they minister to the prison camp survivors who are still alive.

Eternal Rest, grant unto to them, Oh LORD;

and let perpetual light shine upon them.

May they rest in Peace. Amen.

The chapel is built on a memorial wall bearing small medal crosses representing individual souls that were sacrificed by the atheist state.

If you have a loved one who died during the communist repression, in the Kolyma region or anywhere in the former Soviet Union, and would like their name added to the long list being prayed for here, please send us the name and a short biography of the individual to the address indicated on the back.

A cross will be placed on the memory wall in their honor.

Donations will be used to care for the remaining survivors that we minister to.
